Elzie Sexton: vocals, guitars, keys /Caleb Means: vocals, guitars, percussion /Roy Ewing: drums/ Paul Chastain: bass, keys New Ruins began as a duo in 2004 with Elzie Sexton and Caleb Means. The duo self recorded and released an LP ("A Collection) and two EP's ("Build A Fort-Set That On Fire" & "Hotter Months") before the release of their LP, "The Sound They Make" on Hidden Agenda Records in April of 2007. After the release the duo added Roy Ewing (Braid/Very Secretary) on drums and Paul Chastain (Velvet Crush/Matthew Sweet) on bass and keys. After some time playing live shows, New Ruins began work on their 3rd full length, "We Make Our Own Bad Luck," which was released on Hidden Agenda Records in April of 2009. In late 2008 the band added a fifth member, Andrew Davidson (The Living Blue/The Chemicals) on bass and drums. New Ruins has also featured the cello and violin work of Aaron Wittrig (Pulsar 47) and Rachel Dietkus-Miller (City on Film/Very Secretary). New Ruins is currently working on an untitled 4th LP and playing shows throughout the midwest. They also own and operate Boombox Studios and record local musicians.
